Booking is now open for our National Networking Day 2023: Collaborating on Climate Justice, hosted on 19 October at Project Arts Centre in Dublin.

We’re very excited by our programme of guest speakers which includes the Climate Justice team from TASC, the think tank for action on social change, experienced environmental campaigner and journalist John Gibbons, and a range of artists currently engaged in work related to climate justice.

Dr Cathy Fitzgerald, an accredited sustainability educator, will share knowledge and experience of developing effective ecological arts practices. We will also explore creative collaborations on climate justice and related issues with contributions from an experienced panel of socially-engaged artists including AlanJames Burns, Sheila Flanagan and Rita Marcalo. This discussion will touch on issues such as climate grief, art-making in rural contexts, international work, migration, and intersectional issues of a just transition. The panel will be chaired by Ala Buisir, visual artist, journalist and co-founder of Gorm Media.

These presentations, and a workshop facilitated by TASC, will aim to stimulate discussion amongst those present and provide a basis for developing future work in this area.

After the close of the main event, we invite attendees to join us for a reception to celebrate the milestone achievement of Create’s 40th year, as well as the 21st anniversary of Create’s management of the Artist in the Community Scheme.
