In the Shadow of The State Jesse Jones and Sarah Browne – launch event
Event
In the Shadow of The State is a collaboration between artists Sarah Browne and Jesse Jones, exploring statehood from the perspective of the female body. The project will unfold in four sites across Ireland and the UK throughout 2016.
The first public performance, entitled Of Milk and Marble, took place in Derry on March 12th. This performance responded to a legal drafting workshop held in the city earlier in the year with an invited group of women.
Of Milk and Marble was an immersive and intimate sonic experience, staged in a domestic space. This performance explored how the law has touched the lives of women, and speculated how we might return that touch.
Performance times: 12:30, 13:45, 15:00, 16:15, 17:30, 18:45. Performance duration: 30 minutes.
