Create and Fire Station Artists’ Studios (FSAS) are delighted to announce Patrícia Guimarães as the recipient of the 2026 Catalyst Residency Award.

Patrícia is a Brazilian visual artist based in Dublin, working across photography and collaborative practices.  As a recipient of the Arts Council’s Agility Award 2024, Patrícia  has been engaging in a period of reflection, revisiting her archive and developing a more critical understanding of authorship, representation and curatorial practice. She is now interested in developing this direction further through support and shared conversations, to better understand how to sustain and expand this work within her community of creative practitioners in Dublin.

Since 2018, Catalyst Residency has opened a dedicated space for Create and FSAS to work with and support artists from minoritised ethnic backgrounds. Each year, Catalyst Residency responds to the specific needs of successful candidates, offering skills and opening relevant networks across the arts sector.

The residency offers Patrícia the opportunity to be mentored by a range of practitioners; it is designed to enable her to step away from her everyday responsibilities and instead immerse herself in a dedicated period of reflection, mentoring, peer-to-peer conversation and strategic networking.

Patrícia says “This residency will give me the chance to shift how I work, stepping away from constant production into a more focused and reflective mode. I rarely have time to sit with my work in this way, to look back at what I’ve been building and think about where it can go next”.

We look forward to working with Patrícia over the coming months to activate the residency together.

The residency is funded through the Arts Council of Ireland’s Artist in the Community Scheme managed by Create, and the Fire Station Artists’ Studios funded through the Visual Arts Department of the Arts Council of Ireland. The award is delivered through a Create and Fire Station Artists’ Studios partnership.
