Producing in a Collaborative Context with Kath Gorman

Are you a self-producing artist?  Or a new or emerging producer wanting to work in socially engaged contexts?  Or from a community project wanting to know more about producing?

Then join us for this day long workshop opportunity with experienced producer Kath Gorman of Promenade.
The workshop will examine:

• The roles and responsibilities of what producers do in the collaborative arts space
• The key skills and qualities needed as a producer for developing collaborative projects
• The differences between producing events and collaborative projects

Kath will also take you through the nuts and bolts of producing, such as how to get your project idea off the ground, budgeting, best practice in building and managing relationships with communities of interest/place as well as sourcing potential partners.  She will provide case studies and real life examples from her years as a producer – both the positives and the challenges!

You’ll also come away with templates and resources to help you in planning your activities.

Kath Gorman is an experienced producer who has worked in Ireland and the UK for venues, festivals and resource organisations. She is the founder/creative director of Promenade, an awardee of the Arts Council’s Creative Production Supports Scheme 2024 & 2025.  Past roles include Head of Participation & Engagement, Cork Midsummer Festival and Adviser, Arts Participation, the Arts Council. Producer credits include: FML (CAMPO/Cork Midsummer Festival), Record (Dylan Tighe/Cork Midsummer Festival), Hungry Tea (Mark Storor/Creative Connections/Cork Midsummer Festival), Cork Ignite (National Sculpture Factory/Create), I Can Colour Between the Lines (Mark Storor/Cork Midsummer Festival), La Cocina Publica (Teatro Container/Cork Midsummer Festival) and The Day Crossing Farm (Marie Brett/Cork Midsummer Festival).
