Professional Development: Transplant - talk and workshop

Transplant WHAT in collaboration with Create, the national development agency for collaborative arts and ArtLinks, will host a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) day for artists and arts managers currently working in health contexts in April based on the learning from a ground-breaking arts and health project entitled Transplant.
Transplant was a year-long residency involving sound-artist John Wynne and photographer Tim Wainwright at Harefield Hospital, England, which looked at the impact of heart and lung transplants on patients, and led to a major installation which was exhibited in Harefield Hospital and Beldam Gallery in London in 2009. Tim Wainwight, John Wynne and Arts and Health Manager Victoria Hume will give a public talk about the project on 27th April in the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in the grounds of Waterford Regional Hospital. Admission for the talk only is 5 euro. This will be followed by a CPD workshop for artists and arts managers on 28th April in the WHAT Centre for Arts and Health. The workshop will examine how complex arts projects are negotiated in healthcare settings with consideration for governance, ethics, seeking funding in collaboration with other stakeholders, translating research into arts experiences etc. Admission is 40 euro (which includes admission to public talk and lunch) / 35 euro for Create Associates.
