For their fourth instalment at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, The Red Velvet Curtain Cult present 'Voyeur', an evening of gazing, peeking and lurking and loitering. Inspired by the work and processes of Sophie Calle, who will be exhibiting at the gallery at that time. They are looking for performances, interventions, audio, readings & writings. There is scope for sculpture/installation, but it must relate to a performance. Please send your statement of intent, C.V, images of proposed/previous work along with links to any online presence you have.

VIDA 12.0 rewards works of art developed with artificial life technologies and related disciplines: robotics, artificial intelligence, etc. VIDA 12.0 is searching projects that relate technology with biology and that research synthetic characteristics of modern life. They are looking for works of art with emerging behaviours, which evolve over time, react to their environment and seem to have a life of their own. a total of 40,000 Euro will be awarded to three projects.




The Good Hatchery – Celestial Salt

The Good Hatchery is now accepting proposals for its main annual programme, 'Celestial Salt'. This year's project aims to investigate the role of contemporary art outside its comfort zones and usual supports. Artists from all disciplines are invited to propose the presentation of pre-existing work in the environment that surrounds The Good Hatchery.

Selected artists will be provided with an amount of financial and technical support along with transport, local information, workspace and accommodation as required. The outcomes of the project will be documented in a comprehensive publication and be presented at an event detailing the issues arising from this project. 'Celestial Salt' will take place in November and December 2009.

Testing Grounds invites Live Art applications for performances at Permanent Gallery, Brighton, on the 30 January 2010. Testing Grounds is a performance platform and development opportunity for artists actively exploring Live Art or music, including Experimental Theatre, Performance Art, Sound Art and Movement. Applicants must commit to develop and present a new piece of work, or take past work in a new direction. A fee and production support will be offered to successful applicants.

Wooda is offering a six week residency in an studio on an organic farm close to the coast of North Cornwall. Suitable for individual or collaborative contemporary artists with a strong commitment to experimentation and an original approach to work in any media. WHEN: January - March 2010. A bursary of £1,500 is offered, plus a small allowance for travel and materials. Two-bedroomed cottage accommodation is also included.

Cló in Donegal is inviting applications for the three month Madghie Eoin Scholarship which provides for a Gaelic speaking artist to spend a period of three months at Cló Ceardlann’s residence for artists with full access to the workshop facility together with materials, exhibition and stipend. The Scholarship is supported by Ealaín na Gaeltachta.




Cló ‘Trasnú’ Georgian Exchange Residency

Cló in Donegal is offering a 1 month residency which provides for a Gaelic speaking artist to spend a period of 1 month as artist-in-residence at the AIR facility in Tbilisi, Georgia, which has been established for the project. In return one artist from Georgia will become artist in residence at Cló.

The selected artists will be provided with a stipend, travel expenses and studio access as part of this artist-led initiative that aims to provide a platform for creative exchange between artists worldwide. If you wish to apply please contact Marjorie Doohan.




Visual Artists’ Workspace Minor Capital Grant

Visual Artists Ireland, on behalf of the Arts Council, invites applications for grants towards the cost of equipment and/or improvements to the quality of visual artists’ workspaces. Following the Arts Council’s recent ‘Review of Visual Artists’ Workspaces in Ireland’, it particularly recognises the extent of legitimate need for capital investment in visual artists’ workspaces at the present time.

The scheme will award capital grants of up to E5,000 to purchase/maintain essential equipment for the use of artists and/or to undertake improvements to the quality of the artists’ workspace. The total fund available is up to E97,000.

The Visual Artists' Workspace Minor Capital Grant scheme is administered by Visual Artists Ireland on behalf of the Arts Council. Guidelines and application forms are now available to download from the VAI website. Queries may be addresses to Bernadette Beecher, Visual Artists Ireland.
