The Market Estate Project offers artists and designers free spaces in a soon-to-be demolished 1960's housing estate in north London, and a chance to help transform more than 100 vacant flats, communal spaces and building facades into a creative playground for artists, designers and residents. Culminating in a one day pre-demolition event in February 2010, The Market Estate Project will invite the public to explore and experience the site and the art works, just before the bulldozers move in. The Cartier Award for emerging artists living outside the UK is a major initiative by Frieze Projects in collaboration with Gasworks and sponsored by Cartier. Artists are invited to propose a new work to be realised at Frieze Art Fair 2010, which will be produced under the auspices of Frieze Projects. Proposed works may take the form of site-specific installation; performance; film; video or print work. The Cartier Award is open to non-UK-based artists within five years of graduating from an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, or under 30 years of age. The prize will cover production costs of up to £10,000, an artist's fee, travel expenses and a studio residency at Gasworks in London from August to October 2010.

Visual Arts in Rural Communities (VARC) is inviting visual artists to apply for twelve-month residencies at Highgreen in rural Northumberland. The Trust is hoping to appoint two artists from applications submitted; one artist to hold the residency October 2010/11 and another artist to hold the residency October 2011/12. VARC is looking for artists who feel that 12 months spent living in an isolated rural location will significantly benefit their practice. Artists will want to be part of a community and enjoy contact with people. The resident artist is expected to spend a minimum of six weeks during the year working on projects with people.

Big Things on the Beach are looking to commission a temporary artwork for Portobello, Scotland, the 3rd of 3 artworks to be commissioned this year. These commissions are to be based on or around the seafront or promenade of Portobello, a seaside town in the suburbs of Edinburgh City. Open to any artistic practitioners who work in any media; events and performances will be considered. Duration of the artwork can be anything from one day to six months, to be ready by June 2010. Budget: £16,000 inclusive of all fees, travel and VAT.

Belfast City Council has a number of upcoming opportunities for artists to work on public art projects across Belfast. These will be on a variety of scales and budgets and may be temporary or permanent in nature.
Interested artists are invited to submit their CV, contact details, images of previous work (memory stick, slides or print format) and a short letter of interest or artist’s statement outlining relevant experience. Selected artists’ details will stay on file until a future call is advertised and individuals will be asked to submit proposals for specific projects as they arise.
Artists that have been selected for the previous register should submit an updated CV and additional visual material as necessary. If you do not re-register your details will be removed from the list. Please note that selection for this register does NOT guarantee work.

From August to December 2010 PACT Zollverein is offering a residency programme for the development and realisation of projects and productions, which is open to professional artists from both Germany and abroad working in the fields of dance, performance or media art. Awarded twice yearly by jury, residencies provide artists with rehearsal space and local accommodation. In general, a residency does not cover the payment of any fees, travel costs or per diems.

As part of the annual Lift Off! Dance Festival at South Hill Park Arts Centre they will be screening an international selection of dance for camera video work during both festivals, throughout the period of January-March 2010. This year Xtend is looking for artist video pieces and dance for screen works which feature human bodies escaping gravity, responding to architecture, free-running, skate film and creative interpretations of our theme. Artists are invited to send in submissions on DVD along with a completed application form.

The Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, France is currently inviting applications from Irish artists for a number of artistic residencies at the Irish College in Paris from September 2010 to July 2011. Through the residencies and its own cultural programme, the Centre Culturel Irlandais showcases contemporary Irish culture on an international stage.
The Centre Culturel Irlandais' Residency Programme gives participants the opportunity to spend time living and working in Paris. The residency is open to practitioners in all art forms, within the limits of the facilities available in the Centre. The residency bursary covers travel and accommodation in the Centre Culturel Irlandais and each resident artist will receive a stipend of E700 per month. AIRs will participate in one public event within the cultural programme of the Centre Culturel Irlandais.
